NATO research workshop on multinational leader development

The Defence Academy of the United Kingdom are hosting a three-day NATO research workshop (RWS) on leader development for NATO multinational military operations (HFM-369-RWS). The event will take place in London at the Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS) from 20-23 May 2024.

The RWS is being organised on behalf of the Human Factors and Medicine (HFM) panel of NATO’s Science & Technology Organization (STO) by the Defence Leadership Centre and the HFM-369 Programme Committee.

Participation in HFM-369-RWS is by invitation only.

Invitees are selected on their expertise, experience and role in senior/strategic, defence or NATO leader development. A limited number of spaces are available.

The workshop will commence at RCDS with an address from the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (DSACEUR), Admiral Sir Keith Blount KCG, OBE. Participants will hear from a range of expert speakers and engage in working groups to advance conceptual and practical thinking on leader development for NATO multinational military operations. An evening panel event and working supper will take place on the third night in the Fusiliers’ Officers’ Mess in the Tower of London.

HFM-369-RWS is being co-chaired by the United Kingdom (Col Dr Martyn Forgrave, Defence Leadership and Business Group) and the United States (Prof Montgomery McFate, Center for Leadership and Ethics, US Naval War College). The Programme Committee also has representation from Denmark and Poland with further representation from the UK and the US.
