The International Section provides leadership and management courses to our international allies to further collaboration and cooperation amongst our armed forces.

Mission

Two international students talking inside the DCMCI building with tanks and military kit in the background. The International Section aims to share academic teaching, best practices, and experiences to further bilateral relationships through development.

Those attending our programmes will gain a valuable insight into overcoming leadership and management challenges and will be better prepared to assume their responsibilities as a senior leader within their respective security sector.

With a global reach that spans the five continents, the International Section provides short vocational courses internationally, often operating in unstable and dangerous environments. Our training develops the capacity of:

  • strategic leaders
  • senior military officers
  • national defence and security sector officials

to further enhance international cooperation and bilateral relationships.

Previous participants include ambassadors, parliamentarians, civil servants, civil society, as well as the military (up to chief of army level). Throughout, greater diversity and inclusivity is encouraged by promoting greater female delegate participation.

Our portfolio is reviewed and updated each year to ensure materials are relevant and account for recent context and developments.

International Section courses are delivered in partnership with Cranfield University and may be tailored to meet specific requirements of a nation. These courses are generally 1-2 weeks of face-to-face instruction.

It is not possible to directly apply for International Section courses. If you are interested in finding out more or to register interest, please contact the UK Defence Attaché in your country.
